Book Review: Someone Like You

Title: Someone Like You
Series: no
Author(s): Sarah Dessen
Genre: Fiction

Publisher: Puffin
Pages: 281

Summary:
Halley has always followed in the wake of her best friend, Scarlett. But when Scarlett learns that her boyfriend has been killed in a motorcycle accident, and that she's carrying his baby, she's devastated. For the first time ever, Scarlett really needs Halley. Their friendship may bend under the weight, but it'll never break--because a true friendship is a promise you keep forever.

My Thoughts:
Different. That is the only way I can describe this book. It is a good book but compared to the description of the book and the cover it was severely different than I excepted. For one it was dramatically different then a normal Sarah Dessen book. It also revolved much more around Halley's pregnant best friend Scarlett than her first serious boyfriend, Macon.(I think that was his name?) Anyway, the book was about Halley the quiet best friend of Scarlett(who is bold and daring) but, when Scarlett's boyfriend dies in a motorcycle accident, and they soon figure out Scarlett is pregnant with his baby they find that the roles in their friendship is reversed. Halley now has to be strong to help Scarlett out while Halley deals with her controlling mother, and her first serious boyfriend. Overall it was a great book( with lots of great writing, of course) but in the end I felt that Halley hadn't solved all her problems.
Overall Rating: 4.5/5

One word/phrase sum up: Interesting

Book Review: Don't Judge a Girl by her Cover

As Cammie Morgan(junior in high school/spy in training/ rule breaker) heads back to school(spy school that is) you can tell something is wrong. Before school starts mischief and danger has already found a way back into her life. That is because her roommate(and possible first daughter) was almost kidnapped. That is just the beginning as Cammie and her roommates find themselves battling bad guys, rules, and boy's who never telling the truth. Ally Carter has produced another amazing book to this exiting series. Her writing(which is in first person) was cute and funny. I thoroughly hope she continues with the series because they are great books loaded with dangerous and fun characters.

Book Review: Just Listen

Sarah Dessen is officially a genius. This is the 2nd book I have read by her and even though the books tend to follow the same plot line(girl has problem, meets boy, boy solves problem, they get in some sort of fight, meet romantically, fall in love) each one has a deep underlying message. In Just Listen the book revolves around Annabel Greene, a girl who has recently been publicly humiliated by her ex-best friend leaving her lonely and broken. That is until she meets Owen Armstrong the big burly, music obsessed boy who thrives on always telling the truth. Sarah Dessen has a brilliant writing style, and teaches you life lessons through her book. I am about to start on someone like you and hope that it is half as good as the last two books I have read.

Book Review: Peaches

The sweet juice of a peach rolled off of these pages as I spent the summer with Murphy, Leda, and Bride on an old Georgia peach farm. This book was cute, funny, and an overall fun quick read that left me with a happy uplifting message. If the book was to resemble a fruit it would probably be more of an orange than a peach because like most oranges it was hard to start but once I really bit into it I loved every bit of it! The writing was very sweet and flowed from problem to problem. The plot line was also very good with lots of twists and turns with happy miracles resolving some. Peaches was an overall amazing book and I am planning on reading the sequel!!

Book Review: The Truth About Forever

I am never sure how I will like a book that somebody has recommended to me. Sometimes I hate it, other times I love it. This time would definitely be one of the many times I love it!! The story is based off of Macy a organized high school with great grade, athletic abilities, and a stable relationship with a genius from her high school. For Macy a summer without him(Because he will be attending brain camp for an entire 8 weeks!!) will be slow and boring. The only thing she has to do all summer is work at his old job at the library info-desk, study for SATs, and silently live with the fact that she saw her father die less than a year before. That is until she meets the Wish catering -and more importantly Wes one of there there sweet artistic workers- crew and joins there crazy cooking crew for a life changing summer. This book was truly miraculous as it challenged the meaning of forever, friendship, and love. Sarah Dessen is a genius despite the fact that I expected the ending I never expected how they got there in a meaningful well written way. Sarah Dessens writing is cute, fun, and wonderful as she writes from the view of Macy. I am definitely going to read her other best seller books!!!
