Book Review: Fire

Title: Fire
Series: None but there is a companion book (Graceling) there could be another book but I don't know
Author: Kristen Cashore
Genre: Fantasy
Publisher: Dial Books
Pages: 461
Challenges: None

Summary: It is not a peaceful time on the Dells. The young King Nash clings to the throne while rebel lords in the north and south build armies to unseat him. The mountains and forests are filled with spies and thieves and lawless men.

This is where Fire lives. With a wild, irresistible appearance and hair color of a flame, Fire is the last remaining human monster. Equally hated and adored, she has the unique ability to control minds, but she guards her power, unwilling to steal the secrets of innocent people. Especially when she has so many people of her own.

Then Prince Brigan comes to bring her to King City. The royal family needs to uncover the plot against the king. Far away from home, Fire begins to realize there's more to her power than she ever dreamed. Her power could save the kingdom.

If only she wasn't afraid of becoming the monster her father was.

My thoughts: I am a huge fan of Kristen Cashore's writing and love her crazy names that she assigns to her wild characters. Although I liked Graceling(her first book) more I can already see the potential of another book which would be amazing because even the writing is amazing. Even though the books were set in the same place there were two totally different plot lines that were great and twisted at the same time. I think that Fire was an overall good book but was a little lengthy at parts but since this could become a series.

  1. I'm a big fan of Cashore's writing too, and Fire and Graceling are definitely two of my favorite books out there.

  2. Agreed. I liked Graceling better but either the way she really can write.
