B is for Bending Corners

Bending Corners: All of you are going to think I'm crazy after this post but I'm not. Anyway, I am a firm believer in using a bookmark for keeping the page in your book. I would like to know what do you do to keep the page? I just have a firm opinion that you shouldn't bend the corner of a book. Bending the corner of a book wears it down and causes the next reader a less enjoyable reading experience. I mean bending the corner hurts the book!! And I know what your thinking, Books are inanimate objects they will not feel anything! but really they will.  So, the next time that you go to a bookstore or even have a spare piece of paper, get a bookmark!

Thank you

  2. I don't bend books, either. I even take off dust jackets when I read hardcovers so they aren't damaged.

Good luck with the A-Z Challenge.

  6. For the most part I don't bend corners. Something I learned as a child I guess. I'll use any scrap before I bend a page.

  7. I am so with you!!! No one should be damaging such a precious thing as that! I find that post-its work well for me and that's because normally they are all around me, I read on my breaks, before work and after work and I have post-its at my desk at all times!!!

  9. Bending the corners is book blasphemy and it bothers this boy. I'm like Alex: I carefully set the cover aside and use a book mark. I get all sorts of bookmarks in the mail from charitable organizations, but I usually end up using old receipts or airline boarding passes work nicely. I lke to keep my books in pristine condition if I can.

  11. I never do that. It bugs me. That's what bookmarks are for. I have used envelopes, Kleenex (not used!), those subscription cards that fall out of magazines, postcards, receipts and the power cord for my iPod as bookmarks. I don't loan books because I hate getting them back with dog-eared pages!

  13. I'm sooo anal, can't stand a bent page :( but sad thing about me I write in my books and then I get so anal and go and purchase a new one because I hate the fact of writing in my books lol. Also I give the books a complete physical exam before I buy it--- can't stand bent pages or even a blemish on my cover.

  14. I used to get told off as a child for bending book corners, now I have a wee bit more respect for the books. A great blog for "B" Good luck with the rest of the challenge
