Book Review: Graceling

Title: Graceling
Series: The Seven Trilliums Trilogy
Author(s): Kristen Cashore
Genre: Fantasy
Publisher: Harcourt Children's Book
Pages: 471

Summary: Katsa has been able to kill a man with her bare hands since she was eight — she’s a Graceling, one of the rare people in her land born with an extreme, and in her case horrifying, skill. As niece of the king, she should be able to live a life of privilege, but Graced as she is with killing, she is forced to work as the king’s thug. When she first meets Prince Po, Graced with combat skills, Katsa has no hint of how her life is about to change. She never expects to become Po’s friend. She never expects to learn a new truth about her own Grace — or about a terrible secret that lies hidden far away... a secret that could destroy all seven kingdoms with words alone.

My Thoughts: I read this a while back, and have not reviewed it yet... so the details could be a little wrong. Needless to say I loved the entire book, from Po and Katsa's strange twisted relationship to Kristen Cashore's flawless writing. This book was different from many YA books but in a good way. The far away made up land was actually believable. I loved this book way to much, and can't wait to finish out this series!

Overall Rating: 5/5

One word/ phrase sum up: Fantastical

  1. Oh Kim!!! I loved GRACELING! Have you read FIRE yet? It is a prequel/companion to GRACELING. I loved it - maybe even more than GRACELING. I listened to it on audio book and read GRACELING.Thanks for sharing.
