Where I am in the writing process: Finalized my plot line. Drawing up character sketches. Etc., Etc., Etc.
My current problem: I just started summer, and am trying to get in this flow but with tons of different sports camps its not working out...
Question of the week: This week's question was given to me by my blogger-friend Swimmer.((hehe that's me!!)) She asked about writer jealousy. Anybody else currently experiencing it? How do you deal with it?
My answer: This is why I suggested the question because I don't know.... I try to get over it but, sometimes I read a good book, and am just overtaken by its amazingness.
Sorry short post.... running low on time.

I think summer is a hard time for many writers, or so I have been reading. I guess there is so much to do during the warm wheather.
ReplyDeleteI understand what you feel when you read that amazing book. I just hope and wish that my book is that amazing book one day that someone else reads.
I think what you said in the comments of my post was absolutely right - just keep working hard! You have such an advantage over people who don't begin to write novels until they're older (for example, I didn't write my first novel until I was 27). You're a million steps ahead in the game. If you keep working hard, you'll get there!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with J.L. - Summer is a super-hard time when it comes to writing!
J.L. Jackson- I'm sure if you keep working as hard as you do your book will be amazing!!! It probably already is!
ReplyDeleteAmanda- I hope starting early gives me an advantage. I have always love to read, so.... we can only hope.
I do get jealous all the time and I feel like people who tell you otherwise aren't being fully honest. I think even published authors feel that way too. Just part of being human. But what do you do about it? I try not to let it discourage me. I try to make it make me work harder. Easier said than done. So actually I don't have a real answer to this question because I still suffer from it. A lot. thanks for the awesome questions Swimmer! If you have any others email me! I'm running out of ideas for questions after 20 weeks now.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I'd call it writer jealousy...maybe that's what it is. When I was book blogging and I'd see all of the debut authors surface, I felt I was sitting around wasting my time book blogging I felt life was passing me by and it was. Of course, it took three years for me to get off my rear and get in gear. That's a slow reaction time, if you ask me...lol. But I needed that time and don't regret it one bit.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, when I see something a debut author succeeding, it makes me want to work harder. Maybe this is naive, but I feel if they can then I can too.
Being around successful writers or writers who are moving ahead only moves me forward. Yes, I feel that twinge of jealously, but it only makes me want what they have more.
Hope that makes sense.
Don't worry about the time; use the sports camp for inspiration. I'm so busy right now I'm low on words, but the people-watching research is through the roof!
