In My Mailbox #3

This is my third week of doing this meme called in my mailbox. If you would like to learn more than click here. In my mailbox is lead by the stroy siren.

This week:

Bought:

Need by Carrie Jones
Zara White suspects there's a freaky guy semi-stalking her. She's also obsessed with phobias. And it's true, she hasn't exactly been herself since her stepfather died. But exiling her to shivery Maine to live with her grandmother? That seems a bit extreme. The move is supposed to help her stay sane...but Zara's pretty sure her mom just can't deal with her right now.

She couldn't be more wrong. Turns out the semi-stalker is not a figment of Zara's overactive imagination. In fact, he's still following her, leaving behind an eerie trail of gold dust. There's something not right - not human - in this sleepy Maine town, and all signs point to Zara.

In this creepy, compelling breakout novel, Carrie Jones delivers romance, suspense, and a creature you never thought you"d have to fear.

I don't have any more book this week because well... I don't I still need to finish a couple books from a while back so... ya.

Happy Reading

Book Review: Thirteen Reasons Why

Title: Thirteen Reasons Why
Series: None
Author(s): Jay Asher
Genre: Fiction
Publisher: New York : Razorbill
Pages: No clue

Summary: High school student Clay Jenkins receives a box in the mail containing seven cassette tapes recorded by his crush, Hannah Baker, who committed suicide, and spends a bewildering and heartbreaking night crisscrossing their town, listening to Hannah's voice recounting the events leading up to her death.

My Thoughts: This book had an amazing middle and end with crazy twists and turns that made me shiver in fear. The beginning... well not so much. It was probably one of the hardest books to start because it had a boring begging that had two different things going at once. Clay was a sweet character which made me quiet sad because he had to sit through the sadness of listening to the tapes. Personally I loved Hannah she might have only been a character but I really felt her pain as she retold her horrible past. Overall I would recommend it but you have to sit through several bad chapters before you hit the great part.

Overall Rating: 4/5

Book Review: Fire

Title: Fire
Series: None but there is a companion book (Graceling) there could be another book but I don't know
Author: Kristen Cashore
Genre: Fantasy
Publisher: Dial Books
Pages: 461
Challenges: None

Summary: It is not a peaceful time on the Dells. The young King Nash clings to the throne while rebel lords in the north and south build armies to unseat him. The mountains and forests are filled with spies and thieves and lawless men.

This is where Fire lives. With a wild, irresistible appearance and hair color of a flame, Fire is the last remaining human monster. Equally hated and adored, she has the unique ability to control minds, but she guards her power, unwilling to steal the secrets of innocent people. Especially when she has so many people of her own.

Then Prince Brigan comes to bring her to King City. The royal family needs to uncover the plot against the king. Far away from home, Fire begins to realize there's more to her power than she ever dreamed. Her power could save the kingdom.

If only she wasn't afraid of becoming the monster her father was.

My thoughts: I am a huge fan of Kristen Cashore's writing and love her crazy names that she assigns to her wild characters. Although I liked Graceling(her first book) more I can already see the potential of another book which would be amazing because even the writing is amazing. Even though the books were set in the same place there were two totally different plot lines that were great and twisted at the same time. I think that Fire was an overall good book but was a little lengthy at parts but since this could become a series.

Trapped

Today started out as a great somewhat normal day. Then after spending about an hour writing I picked up a new book I bought(Fire by Kristen Cashore) so far the book is brilliant and I can't set it down because it is amazing.(Evan thought I need to clean my house, and write down all the ideas swarming in my head that could be gone by morning.) The thing is I just can't. The writing is drawing me in and I am trapped within the pages. You might wonder why I left it to publish this but it is only because I am at the library and I left the book on my counter. MY COUNTER. It is a new book so the library doesn't have it and I am supposed to meet someone hear in about 10 minutes so I decided to waste some time and so far it is not working at all well.

I also attempted to waste time by looking at books that are coming soon and now I am prepared to spend every penny I have to get all of them because thay all sound diferent and great.

Leave a comment on what book you are looking foward to most in 2010. (That hasn't come out yet)

By the way the picture is being difficult and if it doesn't apear I am sorry.

Book Review: Wings

Title: Aprilynne Pike
Series: None that I know of... I hope there is more
Author(s): Aprilynne Pike
Genre: Fantasy
Publisher: New York : HarperTeen
Pages: 294
Challenges: None
Summary: When a plant blooms out of fifteen-year-old Laurel's back, it leads her to discover that she is a faerie and she has a crucial role to play in keeping the world safe from enemy trolls.

My thoughts: When I picked this up I have no idea why I read it but, I am so glad I did. The writing was AMAZING and the characters were to die for. I am not the type of person who is into fairy book but, I loved this. The writing was so good words don't even begin to explain it and the characters and plot line were beyond amazing. I loved this book and can't wait to read the authors next book!!

Book Review: The Secrets of Peaches

Title: The Secrets of Peaches
Series: Peaches
Author(s): Jodi Lynn Anderson
Genre: Fiction
Publisher: New York : HarperTempest
Pages: Umm.. like 200- 300

Summary: Follows three southern girls--Murphy, Leeda, and Birdie--as they prepare to leave the Darlington Peach Orchard, vowing to remain friends as they go their separate ways.

My Thoughts: Although the plot line did not flow as smoothly as the first I think the writing remained spectacular and detailed. The plot went off in 3 different directions just as the girls did and was hard to follow but interesting at the same time. I am defiantly going to read the 3rd book in the series but I'll probably wait a while before tackling the next plot line. Other than that the book was so spectacular with great writing, characters, and ways of showing ideas in different ways.
