Book Review: My Life in Pink and Green

Title: My Life in Pink and Green
Series: No
Author(s): Lisa Greenwald
Genre: Fiction
Publisher:  Abrams, Harry N., Inc
Pages: 288
Summary:  Twelve-year-old Lucy Desberg is a natural problem-solver. At her family’s struggling pharmacy, she has a line of makeover customers for every school dance and bat mitzvah. But all the makeup tips in the world won’t help save the business. If only she could find a way to make it the center of town again—a place where people want to spend time, like in the old days. Lucy dreams up a solution that could resuscitate the family business and help the environment, too. But will Lucy’s family stop fighting long enough to listen to a seventh-grader?

My Thoughts: This book was definitely supposed to be aimed at younger readers than myself. It was a cute feeling good book, with fourth-grade romances, and a happy ending. The characters were all well described, but sometimes seemed to young. They were supposed to be in middle school, and in my opinion the language of middle schoolers and the nature of their relationships is definitely much more mature then it was portrayed in this book. Thats the truth, the world is growing up faster now, and this book would have been perfect for any fifth or sixth grader due to the lack of intense problems. Even though it lacked a distinct climax it was a great book because the author is definitely a talented writer, if she created a more intense plot line she could have a Sarah Dessen like book. But, with cute writing, cute endings, cute relationships, and cute everything else, this book was a light read that made me laugh because I couldn't help but smile at this books general optimism.

Overall Rating: 3.5/5
One word/phrase sum up: cute
